  • Myofunctional Therapy or Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT)Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) uses targeted exercises to retrain the muscles of the face, mouth, and throat, promoting proper function and development of craniofacial structures. It involves assessing, preventing, and addressing functional or structural imbalances in the oral, facial, and oropharyngeal regions.

  • Many patients experience changes such as:

    • More natural, comfortable nasal breathing

    • Deeper, more restorative sleep and better daytime alertness

    • Reduced jaw tightness and less clenching

    • Smoother, more coordinated chewing and swallowing

    • Longer-lasting orthodontic results by correcting the habits that can lead to relapse

This therapy focuses on retraining the muscles of the face and mouth so healthier patterns become automatic—throughout the day and while you sleep, not only during therapy sessions.

Interested in finding out if it’s right for you? The first step is scheduling a consultation.

  • We guide patients through exercises that support proper tongue placement and breathing. Our goal is for the tongue to rest fully on the roof of the mouth and the lips to remain gently closed, promoting optimal function and overall oral health.

  • This 45-60 minute appointment is designed for individuals or parents who want to learn whether myofunctional therapy could be a good fit. This can be done in person or virtually. We’ll talk through your concerns, go over relevant history, answer any questions you have, and explain how the program works. We’ll also discuss what the process may look like moving forward. By the end, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your options and the next step—often a Full Evaluation.

Important: This visit is for informational purposes only. No diagnosis or treatment is provided during this consultation.

  • Getting started is simple. Schedule an appointment or call us. We’ll walk you through the next steps and answer any questions along the way.

  • Treatment timelines vary. For many adults, therapy may last around 3–6 months, while children often require 6–12 months. However, these timeframes are only general estimates. The length of treatment depends on factors such as the primary concern, the patient’s consistency and motivation, and whether other therapies or treatments are being used alongside myofunctional therapy.

  • We will not diagnose a tongue tie. You will be evaluated for tethered tissues and referred to a trusted provider for further care if needed.

  • We work with clients of all ages. Therapy can begin as early as age 3, provided the child can engage in the sessions. Our goal is to create a positive, effective experience—if we determine that waiting a year or two would be more beneficial, we may postpone therapy to ensure it is both productive and enjoyable, with no unnecessary stress for the child.

  • Consultations and Full Evaluations are not discounted. However, we do provide a family rate for therapy sessions when two or more members of the same household are scheduled together in paired or concurrent sessions. This option is offered when scheduling allows and when it is clinically appropriate.
